Skyworks launches Si829x EV gate driver to boost inverter efficiency and cut system costs.

Skyworks Solutions introduced the Si829x, a next-generation isolated safety gate driver designed for electric vehicle traction inverters and other electrified systems. The Si829x features advanced safety compliant with ISO 26262 standards and uses ProVCD™ technology for variable current drive, reducing switching losses by up to 44% and improving thermal efficiency. This scalable platform supports multiple vehicle types and semiconductor technologies, enabling manufacturers to enhance inverter efficiency, reduce electromagnetic interference, and lower system costs. Production is set to begin in July 2026, with demonstrations showcased at PCIM Expo 2026 in Germany.
