Shell has agreed to sell its European onshore renewables business, including 500 MW of solar and wind capacity and a 3.5 GW pipeline of projects, to France's TotalEnergies. This move is part of Shell's strategy to reshape its power portfolio by focusing on areas where it has competitive advantages and recycling capital into higher-value businesses. TotalEnergies will expand its renewable capacity to nearly 10 GW with this acquisition and has also arranged to sell a 50% stake in another 1.2 GW portfolio to investment firm KKR. Both transactions are expected to complete by the end of 2026, pending regulatory approval.
