Cardano wallet provider SecondFi announced it will shut down its services, including the Yoroi wallet it managed, following a security breach that led to the theft of about $2.6 million worth of ADA from 374 wallets. Attackers exploited a flaw that allowed them to derive private keys from public transaction data on the Cardano blockchain. The Cardano network and hardware wallet users were not affected. An investigation suggests a sophisticated attacker, possibly linked to North Korea's Lazarus Group, was behind the theft. Users are still waiting for recovery tools promised weeks ago, with SecondFi now planning to release a zero-knowledge recovery tool and wallet export function in August, funded by EMURGO.
