Rocket Lab has secured a $90 million contract from the U.S. Space Force's Space Systems Command to design, build, and operate two geostationary satellites equipped with Heimdall space domain awareness payloads. This marks Rocket Lab's first satellite production program for geostationary orbit, expanding its vertically integrated mission model. The satellites will be based on Rocket Lab's Lightning bus, adapted for geostationary conditions, and will support the Space Force's ability to monitor objects in geosynchronous orbit. Rocket Lab will manage the entire mission lifecycle, including spacecraft assembly, payload integration, launch, and up to five years of on-orbit operations.
