The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is investigating Rivian's rear suspension service after two owners lost control due to a fractured rear toe link, a key suspension part. The issue was first noted by Rivian in March 2025, prompting updated service procedures and a recall of nearly 20,000 vehicles. The probe will assess the repair process and condition of 2023-2024 R1 models, potentially affecting 115,000 vehicles. This comes just before Rivian's launch of the R2 SUV and plans to expand service centers and mobile repair vans.
