Rivian has begun production of its new R2 all-electric SUV at its Illinois plant, with customer deliveries planned for later this spring. The R2 is a smaller, less expensive model designed to attract more buyers and help Rivian reduce costs and move toward profitability. The first R2 model is priced at $58,000 and offers a 330-mile range and advanced driver-assistance features. A more affordable version starting at $45,000 is expected by late 2027. Rivian will update investors on production progress with its Q1 earnings report on April 30.
