Raytheon has secured a contract from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries to supply SeaRAM ship self-defense systems for Australia's Sea3000 frigate program, replacing older Anzac-class ships with 11 upgraded Mogami-class frigates. The SeaRAM system enhances ship defense by combining missile and close-in weapon technologies to protect against advanced airborne threats. This marks Australia's first procurement of this terminal defense system, with deliveries expected to begin in late 2028. The contract work will be carried out in Louisville, Kentucky, supporting the installation and testing of the systems on the first three ships built in Japan.
