The King's Foundation and FormationQ have launched a three-year partnership to promote sustainable urban growth in Commonwealth cities using quantum computing technology. The program, called Harmonious Urban Growth, integrates advanced quantum optimization from IonQ to improve urban planning for better health, environmental resilience, and infrastructure efficiency. It builds on the King's Foundation's Rapid Planning Toolkit, which has been piloted in Sierra Leone, and involves participatory planning with local communities. This initiative aims to address rapid urbanization challenges by creating scalable, sustainable city expansion frameworks.
