Duke Energy's PowerShare Storage program, approved by South Carolina's Public Service Commission, offers bill credits to nonresidential customers who enroll qualifying energy storage systems. These systems help stabilize the grid by storing energy when demand is low and releasing it during peak times, supporting grid reliability and accommodating renewable energy. The program provides multiple incentives, including connectivity, capacity, and energy curtailment credits, allowing Duke Energy to discharge customer systems up to 36 times a year. Launching in August 2026, this initiative aims to reduce costs for businesses while strengthening the electric grid amid growing demand in the Carolinas.
