Japan's Ministry of Health has approved Sanofi's Sarclisa subcutaneous (SC) formulation for treating multiple myeloma, including newly diagnosed and relapsed/refractory cases. This approval is based on the IRAKLIA phase 3 study showing the SC form is as effective as the intravenous version, with fewer infusion reactions and added convenience. Sarclisa SC can be administered manually or via an on-body injector (OBI), potentially the first anticancer treatment in Japan using this technology. This approval addresses growing multiple myeloma cases in Japan and offers patients a less burdensome treatment option.
