Ohio Edison is completing a $24 million upgrade to its power grid in Trumbull County, Ohio, replacing old wooden poles with steel structures and installing thicker wire along nearly three miles of the Niles Central-Packard 138-kV Transmission Line. These improvements aim to reduce outages, speed restoration, and support growing electricity demand for over 16,000 residents and businesses in Howland and Bazetta townships. The project, part of FirstEnergy's broader $36 billion investment plan through 2030, enhances grid reliability and resilience against severe weather and other disruptions. Construction started in fall 2025 and is expected to finish by summer 2026.
