Disney CEO Josh D’Amaro announced a plan to cut 1,000 jobs across multiple divisions including marketing, studios, television, ESPN, product, and technology. The layoffs aim to create a more agile, tech-enabled workforce to adapt to fast industry changes and intense competition from Amazon and YouTube in streaming. These cuts were planned before D’Amaro took over as CEO in February, following Bob Iger's return, who has overseen over 8,000 layoffs since 2022. Disney employed 231,000 people at the end of its 2025 fiscal year.
