PEAK:AIO and Los Alamos National Laboratory have introduced Lattice, the first open-source pNFS metadata server designed to overcome metadata bottlenecks in AI and high-performance computing storage. Lattice's innovative distributed architecture allows dynamic scaling of metadata services, significantly improving data throughput and GPU utilization. Early tests show up to 10x better metadata performance and over 300% gains in metadata-heavy workloads, addressing critical constraints in AI infrastructure. The project, supported by the Linux Foundation, aims to foster community innovation and will be commercially available through PEAK:AIO with enterprise features.
