The Africa Clinical Research Network (ACRN) has started its first clinical trial using Oracle's cloud-based safety and analytics solutions to study pre-eclampsia in African women. The PROTECT-Africa trial, running in Zimbabwe, Rwanda, and Tanzania, aims to validate biomarkers that predict severe pregnancy complications, recruiting over 1,100 participants. This initiative addresses the low representation of Africa in global clinical trials and seeks to build a sustainable research ecosystem across 14 African countries. By leveraging Oracle's technology, ACRN aims to enhance trial efficiency, patient safety, and accelerate access to relevant medical innovations for African populations.
