
Nuro has received a permit from California regulators to begin driverless testing of Lucid Gravity SUVs equipped with its autonomous technology on public roads. These vehicles are intended for Uber's upcoming premium robotaxi service. Although Nuro is not yet ready to start testing without a human safety driver, the permit marks a key regulatory step forward. Uber has increased its investment in Lucid to $500 million, planning to buy at least 35,000 robotaxi vehicles equipped with Nuro's tech, aiming for commercial robotaxi operations by late 2026, pending regulatory approvals.
