The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has completed its Environmental Assessment for Dow and X-energy's Construction Permit Application for the Long Mott Generating Station, an advanced nuclear reactor project in Seadrift, Texas. The NRC found no significant environmental impact, marking a key milestone supported by the U.S. Department of Energy's Advanced Reactor Demonstration Program. This project aims to provide electricity and industrial steam to Dow's operations, making it the first grid-scale advanced nuclear reactor serving an industrial site in North America. The reactor design emphasizes safety and minimal environmental footprint, with a streamlined licensing process expected to follow.
