The National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) announced $5.4 million in grants from Walmart’s Acres for America program to protect over 177,000 acres of wildlife habitat in California, Colorado, Kansas, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oklahoma, and Virginia. These grants will leverage $135.8 million in matching funds, supporting conservation projects that enhance wildlife habitats, landscape connectivity, and public outdoor recreation access. Notable projects include preserving Ghost Ranch in New Mexico and establishing Oklahoma’s first State Forest. This initiative is part of Walmart’s ongoing commitment to conserve land equal to what it develops, with Acres for America having protected over 2.2 million acres since 2005.
