Shell's Gulf of Mexico offshore production earns top A rating for methane emissions from MiQ.

MiQ, a leading global methane emissions certification body, has certified Shell Offshore Inc.'s entire production portfolio in the Gulf of Mexico, making Shell the first operator in this basin to receive MiQ certification. All 10 of Shell's production facilities earned the highest Class A rating for low methane intensity, verified through third-party audits under MiQ standards. This certification highlights Shell's efforts in reducing methane emissions by 40% from 2016 to 2025 while increasing production by 40%, showcasing strong environmental practices in offshore oil production. The certification also marks a milestone for MiQ as it expands beyond gas to include offshore oil emissions, supporting transparency and regulatory compliance in the energy sector.
