Meta has begun paying content creators in USDC, a dollar-backed stablecoin, using crypto wallets on the Solana and Polygon blockchains. This move, initially available in Colombia and the Philippines, is set to expand to over 160 countries by year-end. It marks a shift from Meta's earlier failed Libra project by leveraging existing infrastructure like Circle's USDC and Stripe's payment platform. The adoption of stablecoins for creator payouts could channel billions annually through blockchain, accelerating the growth of digital payments and benefiting blockchain networks and payment infrastructure providers.
