The Lowe's Foundation has expanded its commitment to invest $250 million by 2035 to train and develop 250,000 skilled tradespeople through its Gable Grants program. This five-fold increase addresses the urgent shortage of skilled workers in the U.S. construction industry, which needs 349,000 new workers this year alone. The foundation has already invested nearly $53 million in 65 nonprofits and community colleges, reaching its original funding goal a year early. Additionally, a new three-part TV series, Building Back America's Trades, will premiere in April to highlight aspiring tradespeople and their mentors, aiming to inspire the next generation of skilled workers.
