A new report reveals that the lack of visibility into unsanctioned AI tool use in organizations has nearly tripled from 6.3% in 2025 to 17.6% in 2026, with 21.1% unaware of unauthorized AI agent use. Almost half of employees use AI agents daily or weekly, but 88.4% of organizations experienced at least one AI agent-related security breach in the past year. Despite high confidence in preventing unauthorized AI data access, many organizations still face breaches, causing delays in AI deployment. The report highlights the urgent need for stronger AI governance, visibility, and control layers to safely scale AI adoption and manage the growing volume of AI-generated data, which now makes up 35.5% of enterprise data and is expected to rise to 42.1% within a year.
