Kura Oncology and Kyowa Kirin reported promising long-term results from the KOMET-007 trial testing ziftomenib combined with standard 7+3 chemotherapy in newly diagnosed AML patients with NPM1 mutation or KMT2A rearrangement. The trial showed high remission rates (96% CRc in NPM1-m and 90% in KMT2A-r AML), deep molecular responses, and 12-month survival rates of 94% and 71%, respectively. Median overall survival was not reached, indicating durable responses. The combination was well tolerated with manageable side effects. These results support ongoing Phase 3 KOMET-017 trials aiming to improve frontline AML treatment and potentially reduce the need for risky stem cell transplants.
