Merck and Eisai announced that their Phase 3 LITESPARK-012 trial for advanced clear cell renal cell carcinoma (RCC) did not meet its primary endpoints of progression-free survival and overall survival with the triplet therapy involving Keytruda, Lenvima, and Welireg. Despite the setback, safety profiles were consistent with previous studies, and ongoing trials remain unaffected. Analysts suggest this could open opportunities for alternative treatments in RCC. Meanwhile, the FDA approved Merck's new HIV treatment Idvynso, but Merck's stock fell 4.08% to $112.34 following the trial results.
