Bitcoin mining companies Keel Infrastructure and HIVE Digital Technologies saw their shares rise sharply after announcing major moves to pivot from Bitcoin mining to artificial intelligence (AI) and high-performance computing (HPC) infrastructure. Keel sold its Paraguay mining site for about $13 million to fund its AI pipeline, focusing solely on North America. HIVE raised $115 million through zero-coupon notes to invest in GPUs and data center development for AI workloads. This shift aims to diversify revenue away from volatile Bitcoin mining to steadier AI contracts, reflecting a broader industry trend toward AI and HPC infrastructure.
