Rajasthan, India's largest state, has advanced beyond just increasing solar power capacity to developing smart grid technology that manages the variable supply from renewables. With half of India's power capacity now from non-fossil sources, Rajasthan's digital twin project maps millions of grid assets to enable predictive maintenance and better integrate distributed solar power. This approach improves reliability for 18 million people and lowers carbon costs, setting a model for India and other developing countries to modernize grids for clean energy. The next challenge is scaling smart grids and battery storage to make renewable power dependable and affordable nationwide.
