General Motors reported a 4.2% decline in U.S. vehicle sales for the second quarter of 2026, selling 714,896 units compared to 746,588 in the same period last year. The drop was driven by lower demand for its all-electric vehicles and Chevrolet Silverado pickups. Despite this, GM's sales slightly outperformed forecasts from Cox Automotive, which predicted a 7.2% decline for the first half of the year. GM remains confident in its strong market position, citing resilient demand for trucks and SUVs and disciplined inventory and pricing strategies to maintain healthy profit margins.
