Gilead Sciences has agreed to acquire Ouro Medicines for $1.675 billion upfront, with potential milestone payments of up to $500 million. This acquisition adds the clinical-stage drug OM336, a bispecific BCMAxCD3 T cell engager targeting severe autoimmune diseases, to Gilead's inflammation portfolio. The drug has Fast Track and Orphan Drug designations from the FDA, highlighting its potential in treating conditions like autoimmune hemolytic anemia. Gilead will collaborate with Galapagos NV on development and commercialization, sharing costs and royalties, while retaining global rights outside Greater China. This move strengthens Gilead's position in autoimmune therapies and expands its pipeline for future growth.
