Georgia Power has started construction on a 260 MW battery energy storage system (BESS) in Jefferson County, Georgia, adjacent to an existing solar facility. This project, approved by the Georgia Public Service Commission, will enhance grid reliability and support renewable energy by storing solar power for use during peak demand periods. The BESS is part of a broader plan including multiple new battery storage sites and solar projects across the state, aimed at meeting growing energy needs with cleaner sources. Completion is expected in 2027, strengthening Georgia's energy infrastructure and economic growth in the region.
