AWS outage disrupts Coinbase and FanDuel trading due to Virginia data center overheating

Amazon Web Services (AWS) experienced operational issues starting Thursday night caused by a thermal problem at a data center in northern Virginia. This outage affected major trading platforms like Coinbase and FanDuel, leading to service interruptions including lost bets on FanDuel and trading failures on Coinbase. AWS reported that the issue was confined to a single availability zone and recovery efforts, including increasing cooling capacity, are ongoing with full restoration expected to take several hours. AWS is working to resolve impaired virtual server capacity to restore normal service.
