Ford is recalling nearly 1.4 million F-150 pickup trucks in the US due to a gearshift problem that can cause unintended downshifts into second gear, potentially leading to loss of vehicle control and increased crash risk. The recall affects models with six-speed automatic transmissions made between March 2014 and August 2017. Ford has reported two injuries and one accident possibly linked to this issue and has received hundreds of warranty claims and customer reports. Owners will be notified by mail and can get a free powertrain control module update at Ford or Lincoln dealers to fix the problem.
