Equinor has acquired the 230-megawatt Esquina do Vento onshore wind project in Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil, from Vestas Wind Systems. The project includes 51 wind turbines and is expected to generate about 1 terawatt-hour of power annually, supporting Equinor's strategy to integrate wind, solar, and energy trading in Brazil. This expansion strengthens Equinor's renewable footprint alongside its existing Serra da Babilônia wind and solar project in Bahia, aiming for double-digit returns and improved grid efficiency. Power from the project will be sold through Equinor's energy trading unit, Danske Commodities A/S, highlighting Brazil as a key market for the company's long-term growth.
