AIP adds crypto policy expert Jacob Smagula to help shape US digital asset laws in Congress

The American Innovation Project (AIP), a crypto and tech advocacy group founded in 2025, has appointed Jacob Smagula, a crypto policy specialist with experience at bitcoin miner MARA and the DeFi Education Fund, as a fellow. Smagula will join Democratic Representative Ritchie Torres’ team to provide expertise on digital asset legislation. This move is part of AIP’s Policy Innovation Fellowship, aimed at equipping congressional staff with knowledge of emerging technologies like AI and crypto. AIP is supported by major crypto industry players and focuses on informing lawmakers to craft better tech policies.
