Currys PLC has appointed Fredrik Tønnesen, currently head of its Nordic business, as the new group CEO effective August 3. Tønnesen, who started as a sales assistant and has over 20 years with the company, has driven significant profit growth and improved customer and employee satisfaction in the Nordics, which contribute about 40% of Currys' revenue. The leadership change follows a thorough search and coincides with Currys preparing to report strong full-year results, including an adjusted profit before tax of around £191 million. Outgoing CEO Alex Baldock will support the transition until the end of August.
