Core Scientific plans to transform its Pecos, Texas Bitcoin mining site into a large AI data center campus with up to 1.5 gigawatts of power capacity, of which about 1 gigawatt will be available for leasing. The company is repurposing 300 megawatts of mining power to support AI workloads, responding to rising demand for AI computing power. Construction has begun, with early capacity expected by 2027. This shift reflects a broader industry trend as Bitcoin miners seek new revenue streams amid tighter margins and rising energy costs.
