Chinese authorities have launched an investigation into electric vehicle (EV) manufacturers after owners reported a loss of up to 125 miles (200 km) in driving range following software updates. The probe, triggered by complaints of battery degradation and longer charging times after over-the-air updates, has involved over eight EV makers, with three under formal investigation. Tesla and BYD, among others, have denied the allegations. This scrutiny comes amid Tesla's strong sales growth in China and BYD's recent domestic sales decline. The investigation highlights growing concerns over EV software management and battery performance in the Chinese market.
