Cardano has successfully completed the Van Rossem hard fork, upgrading its mainnet to Protocol Version 11. This marks the first Cardano upgrade fully approved through onchain governance without centralized coordination. The update introduces new Plutus smart contract functions, lowers execution costs, and enhances ledger security, preparing the network for its next development phase called the Dijkstra era. Named in honor of the late Dutch community leader Max van Rossem, the upgrade also unifies built-in functions across Plutus versions and improves multi-asset token handling and cryptographic operations.
