Candel Therapeutics has initiated the global pivotal Phase 3 AURORA trial to evaluate aglatimagene besadenovec (CAN-2409) combined with valacyclovir and pembrolizumab in patients with advanced non-squamous non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) who have not responded adequately to immune checkpoint inhibitors. The trial will compare this treatment to standard docetaxel chemotherapy, focusing primarily on overall survival. Enrollment is underway across more than 150 sites worldwide, with support from Parexel International. This trial builds on promising Phase 2 results showing extended survival in difficult-to-treat NSCLC patients, addressing a significant unmet need for those with limited options after immune therapy failure.
