Bhutan has transferred 100 BTC worth $8.1 million as part of ongoing Bitcoin sales, having sold about $230 million since January 2026. The country now holds roughly 3,100 BTC valued at $252 million, down from nearly 13,000 BTC in late 2024. These sales are part of a strategic treasury approach to monetize gains from Bitcoin mined using surplus hydropower, funding development projects like Gelephu Mindfulness City. Despite concerns about running out of Bitcoin by September, sales occur in bursts, and Bhutan continues to hold significant reserves while diversifying assets.
