Belo Sun Mining Corp. announced it will vigorously oppose a petition by the Brazilian Federal Prosecution Service (MPF) seeking to expand a lawsuit against the company regarding community consultations under ILO Convention 169. The MPF wants to suspend Belo Sun's Installation License for the Volta Grande Gold Project and invalidate the environmental licensing process, arguing insufficient consultation with riverside communities. Belo Sun maintains the license was granted lawfully and prior court rulings support their position. The company will provide updates as the legal process continues, but no injunction has been issued yet.
