Chad partners with Aptos blockchain to verify $100B environmental assets under Paris Agreement

The Republic of Chad has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Xange and Aptos to use the Aptos blockchain for verifying and managing sovereign environmental assets worth potentially over $100 billion. This partnership leverages Xange's digital Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification system and the Unified Environmental Market Infrastructure Solutions platform, using cryptographically secure records on Aptos to ensure data integrity. The project aims to support the trading of Internationally Transferable Mitigation Outcomes (ITMOs) under the Paris Agreement, although it is still in early stages with no immediate revenue or asset trading. This represents a rare sovereign-level blockchain climate initiative with significant potential but also political and operational risks given Chad's fragile governance.
