Aptos Labs, in partnership with Jump Crypto, has launched Shelby, a decentralized object storage protocol designed to solve AI's data infrastructure bottleneck. Shelby offers sub-second read speeds and reduces data egress costs by about 70% compared to traditional cloud providers like Amazon and Google. Unlike other decentralized storage solutions focused on archival data, Shelby targets fast, frequent access needed for AI workloads, enabling data providers to monetize stored data directly without intermediaries. This innovation could drive organic demand for Aptos' native token (APT) as AI companies adopt the protocol for efficient data handling.
