This initiative aims to develop a U.S.-based midstream rare earth supply chain, reducing reliance on China, which currently dominates this sector. The study will evaluate technologies like molten salt electrolysis and calciothermic reduction, focusing on rare earths essential for high-temperature magnets. This move aligns with U.S. policy to secure domestic rare earth production and supports American Rare Earths' goal of creating a Wyoming-based mine-to-magnet supply chain.
