Amazon and the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) have reached a tentative deal to reduce the number of packages Amazon sends through USPS by 20%, a significant decrease from an initial threat to cut by two-thirds. This agreement helps USPS maintain a crucial revenue stream, as it handled over 1 billion Amazon packages last year, accounting for about 15% of its parcel volume and $6 billion in revenue. The deal also prevents operational challenges for Amazon, especially in rural areas where USPS handles 30-40% of last-mile deliveries. The Postal Regulatory Commission will now review and approve the agreement.
