Alstom and Transports publics de la région lausannoise (tl) signed a €295 million contract to modernize Lausanne's m2 metro line by deploying a new train-centric CBTC signaling system and upgrading the existing train fleet. This upgrade will increase service frequency and passenger capacity, reduce waiting times, and improve reliability while extending the lifespan of the metro cars. The project includes renewing key onboard systems and refreshing train interiors and exteriors, with most work done during night hours to minimize service disruption. This modernization aims to meet growing passenger demand and enhance the overall metro experience in Lausanne.
