Algorand Foundation announced a roadmap to enhance its blockchain's security against quantum computing threats by the end of 2027. The key milestone is the introduction of native Falcon-1024 accounts in Q3 2026, featuring hybrid cryptography that combines classical elliptic-curve and quantum-resistant Falcon signatures for dual protection. The foundation is also researching a post-quantum replacement for its consensus mechanism's cryptographic functions, with a paper expected in early 2027. This proactive approach aligns with upcoming regulatory requirements, such as France's ANSSI ceasing certification of non-quantum-safe products from 2027 onward.
