Coinbase highlights Algorand and Aptos' quantum-resistant blockchain efforts amid rising quantum computing threats

Coinbase's quantum advisory board released a report praising Algorand and Aptos for their advanced preparations against future quantum computing threats, which could break current blockchain cryptography. Algorand has implemented quantum-resistant cryptographic tools and completed a quantum-resistant transaction, while Aptos allows users to easily upgrade to post-quantum secure accounts. The report warns that proof-of-stake blockchains like Ethereum and Solana may be more vulnerable but notes they have roadmaps to enhance security. Although the quantum threat is not immediate, the board urges early upgrades to protect digital assets from future quantum attacks.
