Alexandria Real Estate Equities and the Foundation for the National Institutes of Health (FNIH) announced that the Multi-Modal Assessment and Phenotyping in Depression (MAP-D) initiative has completed its critical design phase. This milestone paves the way for a groundbreaking clinical study aiming to improve diagnosis and treatment of major depressive disorder using precision medicine. The initiative, supported by an initial $22 million pilot phase and expected to exceed $70 million in total funding, will use AI to identify biological markers linked to depression subtypes, enabling personalized therapies. The public-private partnership also plans to share data widely to accelerate research and extend benefits to other mental illnesses.
