Akeso, Inc. has enrolled the first patient in a Phase Ib/II clinical trial testing its next-generation HER3 antibody-drug conjugate (ADC), AK138D1, for advanced breast cancer. AK138D1 is designed to reduce side effects and improve tumor targeting compared to traditional HER3 ADCs. The trial targets major breast cancer subtypes with high unmet needs, including hormone receptor-positive, HER2-negative and triple-negative breast cancers. Early studies show promising efficacy and safety, and the trial will explore AK138D1 alone or combined with ivonescimab, aiming to offer a new treatment option for difficult-to-treat breast cancers.
