Agnico Eagle Mines Limited has approved a $2.4 billion investment for its Hope Bay gold project in Nunavut, Canada, planning an 11-year underground mine producing 400,000 to 435,000 ounces of gold annually. The project, supported by a 6,000 tonnes per day processing facility, aims to leverage significant exploration upside across an 80-km greenstone belt. Expected to start production by 2030, Hope Bay targets total cash costs below $1,000 per ounce and an after-tax IRR of approximately 26%, contributing to long-term regional economic development and Indigenous partnerships. Continued exploration and infrastructure upgrades are planned to extend mine life and increase production potential.
