Agios Pharmaceuticals has secured exclusive global rights from Oscotec to develop and commercialize cevidoplenib, a next-generation oral SYK inhibitor targeting immune thrombocytopenia (ITP), a rare autoimmune blood disorder. Cevidoplenib aims to improve platelet counts by preventing autoantibody-mediated platelet destruction, with better tolerability than first-generation SYK inhibitors. The drug showed promising results in a Phase 2 trial and is expected to enter Phase 3 development by mid-2028. Agios paid $25 million upfront and may pay up to $140 million in milestones, with potential peak U.S. sales of $1 billion.
